July News from Little Alf & Hannah
New book covers and sunshine!
Hope your all having the chance to enjoy some of this glorious sunshine, I seem to keep mentioning the sun a lot recently in my posts, but you can’t not enjoy it when the winter has been so cold and rainy, especially here in Yorkshire we had a lot of snow at the start of the year so it’s nice to finally be able to enjoy the sun.
This week has been another hectic one, last Saturday we sold out of books in the shop which was amazing it was so busy! It’s nearly been 1 year since we opened the shop which I can hardly believe as time has just flown by – time flies when your having fun right. When my first book was published in 2014 I would have never of thought one day I would have a shop based on Little Alf. In the past year we’ve really developed the brand and have a new book being released in August which I am very excited about, it’s just been sent to the proof reader and I’m very eager to get it back and add in the pictures, acknowledgments, and some information about Alf. I’m probably more exited to get the book finished in my hands. It’s always a nice feeling to see it cover to cover all glossy and nice.
In the past year since opening the shop we’ve also become ambassadors to the ‘Brooke’ charity and partnered up with local artists Stacey Moore to create a piece of art work to remember the Horses who lost their lives in the war. As well as this we’ve launched a clothing range in Aid of Brooke and earlier this year we launched ‘Little Alf’s trail around the Yorkshire Dales’ which has had an amazing response so far. I’m excited for the children’s holidays and see how many families go on Little Alf’s Yorkshire Dales experience!
So, it might have been a busy year for us since opening, but we couldn’t be prouder of how far we have come! This week I also got the first box of Little Alf’s memoir with the summer cover on and I love it, I think Alfie looks super cute on the front.
Talking of Alfie, I had to brush all his mane out yesterday as somehow, he’s managed to get a dreadlock in there, I brush Alfie’s mane nearly every day but some how he still manages to get lots of knots! – once I’d finished brushing is hair out it looked like he had an Afro hairstyle going on.
It’s been hot for the horses this week, so we’ve been checking they have fresh water more frequently and making sure they have some shade. Alfie has been lazy, but I can’t blame him the sun even makes me feel more tired!
Make sure if you have horses or pets they have access to fresh water at all times, it's really hot at the moment and it's meant to continue for the rest of the week...
Bye for now,
Hannah & Little Alf X
